GTN Technical Staffing is seeking a Cost Accounting Analyst for a Direct-Hire opportunity in Waco, TX. This role will be 100% on-site at our client's offices.

The Cost Accounting Analyst role is pivotal in leveraging cost accounting principles to perform comprehensive financial analyses and deliver actionable insights that extend beyond standard accounting practices. The successful candidate will exhibit a results-driven mindset, leadership potential, and a commitment to exceeding performance expectations, laying the groundwork for future career growth.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Standard Costing and Variance Analysis: Optimize the standard cost system by conducting thorough variance analyses centered around production activities. Identify discrepancies between standard and actual costs, analyze root causes, and communicate findings effectively to production personnel to drive corrective actions.
  • Work Orders and Manufacturing Orders: Manage and analyze work orders and manufacturing orders to ensure accuracy and efficiency in the production process. Collaborate closely with production teams to track order progress, identify bottlenecks, and implement process improvements.
  • Inventory Analysis: Perform detailed inventory analysis to maintain optimal inventory levels and reduce carrying costs. Develop and implement strategies for effective inventory cycle control, ensuring accurate physical counts and inventory valuation.
  • Financial Reporting and Cost Structure Analysis: Extract and analyze data to determine true cost structures, delivering detailed financial reports that highlight key drivers of pricing and profitability. Provide insights that support strategic decision-making and enhance financial performance.
  • Month-End Financial Close and Capital Expenditure Tracking: Support the month-end financial close process, including journal entries and account reconciliations. Track capital expenditures and manage performance-based incentives to ensure alignment with financial goals.
  • Collaboration with Production Personnel: Work directly with production personnel to resolve costing and inventory issues, ensuring alignment between financial data and physical product management.
  • Compliance and Ethical Standards: Uphold ethical standards and ensure compliance with financial regulations, including U.S. Export Control regulations.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Contribute to the finance and accounting team’s success by taking on additional tasks and projects as needed.
REQUIREMENTS
Educational Background:
  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline is required.
  • An MBA, either completed or in progress, is highly desirable.
Professional Experience:
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in manufacturing cost accounting or public accounting is preferred, with a strong foundation in cost management, inventory analysis, and variance analysis directly related to production activities.
Technical Proficiency:
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel)
  • Experience with ERP systems such as INFOR ERP Powerlink and MAPICS, or similar platforms.
  • Familiarity with inventory management and costing software is a plus.
Communication & Presentation:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial concepts clearly and effectively to stakeholders at all levels, including production teams.
Attention to Detail & Time Management:
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver accurate, high-quality work under tight deadlines, with a focus on continuous improvement.
Leadership & Problem-Solving:
  • Proven track record of leadership, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities, particularly in a manufacturing environment. Experience in a supervisory role is advantageous, though this position does not have direct reports.
Physical Requirements:
  • The position involves standing, walking, and occasionally lifting or moving items weighing up to 30 pounds.
Export Control Compliance:
  • This role requires compliance with U.S. Export Control regulations, necessitating that candidates be U.S. Citizens, U.S. Nationals, Legal Permanent Residents, Asylees, Refugees, or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
