Our client is looking for an Inpatient Rehab Coding Specialist with AAPC or AHIMA; with Acute Care Facility Inpatient Rehab Coding experience to join their team!
Overview:
The remote Inpatient Rehab Coder is responsible for reviewing and evaluating Inpatient medical records documentation to assign, sequence, edit and/or validate the appropriate ICD-10 and ICD-10-PCS codes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Abstract from typed and/or handwritten medical records.
- Where applicable, complete the coding portion of the IRF-PAI
- Select diagnostic and procedure codes to the highest level of specificity.
- Assign the correct principal diagnosis, major comorbidities and complications, POA indicators, HAC, principal procedure codes, secondary procedure codes, and discharge disposition.
- Utilize the complete patient medical record documentation in code/DRG assignment, validation, and/or editing of codes/DRG.
- Send compliant queries to physicians for clarification of information in the medical record.
- Maintain established accuracy and productivity standards.
- Current CIC from AAPC, or CCS from AHIMA
- Must maintain certification via CEU requirements from AAPC or AHIMA
- ONE (1) year of recent Facility Acute Care Inpatient Rehab Coding and abstracting experience.
- Must have a strong understanding and proficiency in DRG coding.
- Knowledge of 3M encoder, Codify, Optum 360 EPIC electronic health record is required.
- Comfortable with hitting a 95% accuracy or better and hitting productivity standards.
- Knowledge of medical/surgical terminology
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Skilled in Microsoft Excel, Word, SharePoint, and Outlook
- Utilization of Codify, 3M, and Optum 360 Coding programs.
