About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced CNC Mill/Lathe Programmer to support aerospace manufacturing operations, programming, setting up, and operating multi-axis CNC milling and turning machines. The role focuses on producing precision aerospace components in compliance with AS9100 standards and other aerospace quality and regulatory requirements. The candidate will apply expertise in CAM programming, blueprint interpretation, GD&T, and process optimization to deliver high-precision parts from exotic alloys and tight-tolerance designs.



Key Responsibilities
  • Develop complex CNC programs for mills and lathes using CAM software such as Mastercam, CATIA, or Fusion 360
  • Assist shop floor personnel with machine setup, first-time runs, and program verification
  • Interpret aerospace blueprints, engineering drawings, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) specifications
  • Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, cutting tools, and machining parameters for each part
  • Perform first-article inspections (FAIs) and ensure all parts meet AS9100 quality standards
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to optimize machining processes, fixturing, and workflow efficiency
  • Troubleshoot machining and programming issues in real time to maintain production schedules
  • Maintain setup sheets, revision histories, and process documentation in compliance with aerospace quality and regulatory standards
  • Participate in continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, and cycle time reduction initiatives
  • Support multi-axis machining operations, including 3-, 4-, and 5-axis milling and turning of assemblies or sheet metal components

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of CNC programming and setup experience in aerospace or precision manufacturing
  • Proficiency with G-code and CAM software such as Mastercam, CATIA, or Fusion 360
  • Experience interpreting aerospace blueprints, engineering drawings, and applying GD&T principles
  • Hands-on experience with multi-axis CNC mills and lathes, tight tolerances (±.0002”), and aerospace alloys such as Titanium, Inconel, and Aluminum
  • Familiarity with AS9100 quality standards, FAA, and NADCAP requirements
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments and generating CMM inspection reports
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent documentation, communication, and collaboration abilities

Preferred Qualifications
  • Mastercam certification and 5+ years of Mastercam programming experience
  • Experience with fixturing, tooling design, and work holding solutions
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks for creating models and drawings
  • Experience with Haas, Mazak, or Okuma CNC controls
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and DNC network environments
  • Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC), lean manufacturing, and 5S methodologies
  • Experience with machining of assemblies, sheet metal components, and complex aerospace parts

  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
  • Manual dexterity and capability to work in a fast-paced, precision manufacturing environment
