DETAILS
Location: Downtown Houston, TX (Hybrid: remote on Mondays and Fridays)
Position Type: Direct-Hire
Salary: $125K+, based on experience
Residency Requirements: Must be authorized to work in the U.S. (No sponsorship available)
Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or related field.

ABOUT THE POSITION
GTN Technical Staffing is seeking a Data Scientist Advisor for a Direct-Hire, FTE, Hybrid role in Houston, TX. The Data Scientist Advisor will demonstrate extensive experience in the oil and gas industry to support business growth through advanced data analytics, machine learning, and AI. In this role, you will lead and collaborate on multi-disciplinary projects, solving operational challenges such as production optimization, drilling and completion process improvement, and back-office automation. Leveraging your technical expertise, you will implement cutting-edge technologies and best practices to streamline workflows and drive innovation.
  • Lead and collaborate on cross-functional projects addressing production automation, process optimization, and dashboard deployment.
  • Design and implement machine learning models and AI solutions for operational efficiency.
  • Utilize Python and data mining tools to analyze large datasets, providing actionable insights for decision-making.
  • Drive the adoption of new technologies and best practices for analytical workflows.
  • Present findings to stakeholders, effectively communicating complex data and solutions.
  • Manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, delivering results under tight deadlines.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
8-10+ years of experience in the following skill sets.
  • Data analytics and handling large datasets.
  • Proficiency in Python and data analysis tools.
  • Proficiency in additional programming languages (SQL, R, C++).
  • 3+ years’of experience utilizing data sciences within the oil and gas sector, preferably with petroleum engineering or geoscience workflows
  • Strong collaboration and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in team-oriented environments.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work under pressure.

HIGHLY DESIRED, BUT NOT REQUIRED
  • Advanced degree (Master’s, PhD) or certifications in Data Science or Data Analytics.
  • Expertise with  unconventional exploitation programs and upstream/midstream operations.
