DETAILS
Location: Downtown Houston, TX (Hybrid: remote Mondays and Fridays)
Position Type: Direct-Hire
Salary: $90-100K+, based on experience
Residency Requirements: Must be authorized to work in the U.S. (No sponsorship available)
Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or related field.
ABOUT THE POSITION
GTN Technical Staffing is seeking a Data Scientist for a Direct-Hire, FTE role in Houston, TX. The Data Scientist will create data-driven solutions for operational challenges within the oil and gas industry. You will apply advanced techniques such as machine learning, exploratory data analysis, and AI to improve production optimization, process automation, and drilling efficiency. Collaborating across teams, you will play a key role in enhancing decision-making and operational processes within the upstream and midstream sectors.
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
1-3+ years’experience in the following skill sets.

- Lead and contribute to projects addressing production optimization, drilling efficiency, and automation.
- Implement machine learning models and AI for operational improvements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate data-driven tools and dashboards.
- Utilize Python and data mining to analyze large datasets and provide actionable insights.
- Present findings and solutions clearly to stakeholders.
- Manage multiple projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
1-3+ years’experience in the following skill sets.
- Data analytics and managing large datasets
- Proficiency in Python and data analysis tools
- Programming languages: SQL, R, or C++
- Strong collaboration and presentation skills
- Excellent communication skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in data science within oil and gas, ideally with upstream/midstream operations and petroleum engineering workflows
- Advanced degree or certifications in Data Science or Analytics
