LEAD DATA SYSTEMS ENGINEER

Dallas–Fort Worth Metro Area | On-site

Full-Time, Direct Hire

$160, 000–$180, 000 base;exceptional candidates may be considered above target;+ annual bonus potential

A large enterprise technology organization is hiring a senior hands-on engineer to lead the design and delivery of a new data platform, supporting services, and selected analytical applications. This is not a pure architecture position. You will set technical direction, write production code, guide other engineers, and help move the platform from initial design through reliable operation.

What You’ll Do
  • Define scalable patterns for analytical storage, batch and event-driven ingestion, data processing, and distributed query workloads.
  • Build and optimize Python-based pipelines and services that support high-volume data processing.
  • Design APIs and service interfaces that make governed data available to reporting and internal applications.
  • Contribute to data-intensive web capabilities using a current JavaScript/TypeScript stack.
  • Establish practical standards for data modeling, quality, security, automated testing, deployment, and operational visibility.
  • Diagnose performance and reliability issues across data and application layers.
  • Lead architecture reviews, document key decisions, and mentor engineers.

What You’ll Bring
  • 8+ years of data engineering, data-platform, or closely related software-engineering experience, including senior technical leadership.
  • Strong production experience with Python and SQL.
  • Hands-on experience with lakehouse architecture, open table formats, cloud object storage, partition design, schema evolution, and versioned data management.
  • Experience with both batch and event-driven data processing, plus distributed query or large-scale analytical workloads.
  • Experience designing production APIs, working with relational data stores, and contributing to modern web applications.
  • Experience deploying and operating cloud-based, containerized services with automated delivery and monitoring practices.
  • A record of making sound architecture decisions, improving engineering standards, and mentoring other engineers.
  • U.S. Work authorization.

This role is best suited to an engineer who enjoys owning a broad technical surface—from data architecture and production pipelines through the services and applications that make the platform useful.
