Overview
We are seeking a Manager, Gas Integration & Supply to support continuous, reliable data center operations by forecasting, modeling, and securing natural gas supply for on-site and connected power generation assets.
This role partners closely with data center engineering teams to translate dynamic and evolving power demand requirements into accurate natural gas nominations for multiple gas-fired turbines. The position also plays a key role in cost optimization, forecasting improvement, and commercial fuel strategy by identifying overbought and oversold gas positions, quantifying financial impact, and reducing exposure to spot market purchases.
The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in natural gas scheduling, fuel management, power generation support, and market analysis, along with the ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, operations, finance, risk, and commercial stakeholders.
Key ResponsibilitiesGas Forecasting & Demand Planning
•Collaborate daily with data center engineering teams to understand short-term, monthly, and forward-looking power requirements
•Translate evolving electrical load forecasts into turbine-level natural gas demand
•Develop, maintain, and continuously improve natural gas consumption models and forecasting methodologies
•Incorporate turbine performance curves, ambient conditions, ramp rates, and operational constraints into fuel demand calculations
•Analyze forecast deviations and determine root causes to improve future forecast accuracy
Gas Scheduling & Supply Coordination
•Prepare and submit daily, monthly, and forward natural gas nominations to support power generation requirements
•Coordinate closely with gas suppliers, marketers, pipeline operators, and strategic account managers to ensure adequate supply and transportation capacity
•Monitor scheduled versus actual gas usage and proactively manage variances to avoid curtailments, penalties, and spot market exposure
•Maintain documentation of models, assumptions, and scheduling methodologies
Cost Optimization & Variance Analysis
•Track and report overbought and oversold natural gas positions and their operational and financial impact
•Quantify the cost or benefit of forecast variances, spot purchases, excess gas sales, and imbalance charges
•Provide reporting and insights to stakeholders on key drivers of variance and improvement opportunities
•Maintain a continuous improvement mindset focused on reducing forecast error and minimizing fuel-related cost exposure
Market Analysis & Commercial Support
•Monitor natural gas market prices, volatility, and regional market trends relevant to the operating footprint
•Analyze supply and demand dynamics, regional basis movements, and market fundamentals
•Support the timing and structure of gas purchases and sales in alignment with operational needs and risk parameters
•Provide input to commercial and risk teams regarding procurement strategies and hedging approaches tied to load uncertainty and operational flexibility
•Support longer-term planning through insight into fuel cost risk and supply reliability
Cross-Functional Communication & Leadership Support
•Communicate fuel supply risks, forecast changes, and financial impacts clearly to engineering, operations, and commercial leadership
•Partner cross-functionally with trading, risk, finance, and operations teams to support natural gas procurement and commercial objectives
•Investigate forecast misses and collaborate with internal teams to improve assumptions, processes, and tools
•Recommend process enhancements, systems, and data inputs to improve forecast reliability and scheduling efficiency
Required Experience
•Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Energy Management, Finance, Economics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
•3+ years of experience in natural gas scheduling, fuel management, power generation operations, or energy trading support
•Strong working knowledge of natural gas markets, pipeline nominations, and supply logistics
•Experience supporting gas-fired power generation assets preferred
•Advanced analytical skills with strong Excel proficiency and experience building or improving forecasting models
•Experience with energy management platforms or ETRM systems is a plus
•Strong financial and analytical mindset with the ability to connect operational decisions and market activity to economic outcomes
•Detail-oriented and proactive, with the ability to perform in a fast-paced, high-availability environment
•Ability to investigate issues, identify root causes, and drive continuous improvement
•Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex operational and market data into actionable business insight
