Position: Metal Fabrication Manager
We are currently seeking an experienced Metal Fabrication Manager to lead our production team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and improving production processes, managing staff, and ensuring that our products meet customer specifications and quality expectations. This role involves strategic planning and coordination to ensure the shop stays on schedule and within budget. The Fabrication Manager will play a crucial role in maintaining our reputation for quality and efficiency in the industry.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and submit initial quotations and job costing for customer-specified products and stock production schedules.
- Monitor work in progress (WIP) to ensure products remain on budget and on schedule, and fill out timely and accurate WIP and Inventory Reports.
- Coordinate with Production Supervisors and the Production Planner to establish production schedules, including personnel assignments.
- Communicate material needs and requirements with the Purchasing Department.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for Fabrication & Metal Operations orders.
- Coordinate with other managers and employees to schedule and manage shared resources and personnel as required for specific production demands.
- Manage overall quality, establish Quality Control measures and processes, and maintain quality standards to assure compliance with regulations and production requirements.
- Obtain quotes from third parties for supplemental production items as needed.
- Attend and lead production meetings as required, including both company and customer meetings.
- Investigate and resolve customer complaints, identifying potential challenges within the production process and providing innovative solutions and problem-resolution.
- Offer expert advice to customers with technical needs.
- Conduct job site walkthroughs and site visits to analyze special job needs and requirements.
- Participate in periodic audit reviews to identify and document areas for future improvement.
- Provide hands-on training and mentoring to team members in fabrication techniques.
- Conduct performance reviews of team members to provide feedback and identify training gaps and opportunities.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- In-depth knowledge of metal fabrication and production techniques, including the ability to read drawings and schematics.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Professionalism, integrity, and a positive demeanor.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Results-oriented with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Leadership aptitude preferred.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to coordinate with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in Lean manufacturing, 5S, Six Sigma;Green or Black Belt preferred.
- Familiarity with Trumpf equipment and CAD software preferred.
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
