Network Engineer - Operational Technology (OT)

Employment Type: Direct-hire, Full-time, Exempt
Total Compensation: $140k plus 15-18% bonus
Citizenship Status: Eligible to work directly on W2 basis, no sponsorship is not being offered at this time.
Reports To: Director of IT
Schedule: Hybrid, will work 3 days each week onsite and 2 days each week remotely (Monday - Friday). Can work onsite at either the Dallas (uptown) or Houston (downtown) office. This role may include up to 10% travel.
As the Senior Network Engineer for Operational Technology with this energy company, you will work in a fulltime hybrid role, reporting onsite 3 days a week in the Dallas or Houston office and working 2 days remotely. This is a Direct Hire opportunity with an annual salary of 140k, plus 15-18% bonus and comprehensive benefits package.
Job Description:
Will collaborate with control system engineers to identify various device categories based on their function and operational location, as well as develop a scheme for segmenting devices to minimize cross-visibility between them. Will produce documentation for data flow patterns and developed firewall rules for centralized control across multiple locations.
- Design network infrastructure to meet and exceed industry regulatory standards for a stable and growing energy company.
- Formulate a segmentation strategy to separate different network areas, including operational and business networks.
- Enhance the network structure based on a widely adopted framework used for automation systems.
- Devise a strategy to add tighter controls between devices in each network segment to improve overall system security.
- Propose a modified routing approach to avoid unintentional interaction between IT and operational networks.
- Work with operations teams to assess network vulnerabilities and communicated findings to IT security personnel.
- Coordinate with the operational technology team to define communication requirements and ensured only essential interactions were allowed between remote devices and central management systems, with full monitoring of traffic flows.
- Design an upgrade plan for network-wide connectivity management and began transitioning sites to a new centralized solution, utilizing Fortinet’s SD-WAN infrastructure.
- Set up a centralized FortiManager for policy management, ensuring uniformity across sites and facilitating efficient policy management and troubleshooting.
- Configure FortiAnalyzer to collect and analyze logs to provide rapid identification of network anomalies.
- Verify all network activity was fully logged to comply with critical industry regulatory standards.
- 5-8 years serving as a Network Engineer within an enterprise company with devices across multiple locations.
- 3-5 years working with Fortinet, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer, and FortiAPs.
- Experience working for an Energy or Manufacturing company with industrial sites.
