Network Operations Engineer (Direct Hire, Onsite)
We are looking for a Network Operations Engineer to join our client’s Networking team. You will help plan and implement network strategies, troubleshoot issues, and optimize network performance. This role involves working closely with other team members to ensure the stability and security of their network services.
Top 3 Skills Needed:
1. Network Protocols: Strong understanding of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, and IP subnetting and routing.
2. Network Hardware: Experience with routers, switches, firewalls, and network monitoring tools.
3. Problem-Solving: Excellent troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
Responsibilities:
- Design, configure, and deploy network solutions for high-speed internet services.
- Monitor and troubleshoot network performance issues to ensure optimal uptime.
- Implement and maintain network security measures, including firewalls and VPNs.
- Work on network improvement and optimization projects with the team.
- Maintain documentation of network configurations, changes, and procedures.
- Perform network performance testing and capacity planning.
- Stay updated on the latest networking technologies and trends.
- Provide technical support and guidance to internal teams.
- Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours network support.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in network engineering or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS).
- Background in IP subnetting and routing.
- Experience with network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls) and software.
- Proficiency in network monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
- Knowledge of network security best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Experience:
- Proficiency in Linux operating systems.
- Experience with Passive Optical Networking (PON) and optical transport.
- Experience with packet capture tools such as Wireshark.
- Experience with Cisco IOS-XR.
- Familiarity with automation tools and scripting languages (e.G., Python, Bash).
- Experience with virtualization technologies (e.G., VMware, KVM).
- Knowledge of software-defined networking (SDN) and network function virtualization (NFV).
- Relevant certifications (e.G., CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, JNCIS) are a plus.
