DETAILS
Location: On-Site in Washington, D.C.
Position Type: 60 Day Contract-to-Hire
Compensation: up to $28/hr

REQUIRED EDUCATION / LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS
POSITION DETAILS
GTN Staffing is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented surgical assistant to aid our client's oral surgeon throughout the treatment process. This role involves preparing for procedures, assisting during surgeries, and ensuring smooth patient recovery. A strong candidate will be organized, responsive to patient needs, and familiar with oral surgical practices.
Surgical Duties
Responsibilities include sterilizing and maintaining instruments, setting up surgical trays, and preparing procedure rooms for IV sedation and surgeries. The assistant will seat patients, review medical charts, manage nitrous oxide setups, and help position patients safely. Skills in monitoring sedated patients, managing airways, and recognizing emergency situations are essential. Regular equipment maintenance and patient support are also key parts of the role.
Patient Interaction & Support
The assistant must be capable of calming patients, circulating during procedures, and evaluating post-op recovery. Identifying when medical intervention is necessary and delivering quality care throughout the process is crucial.
Administrative & Non-Surgical Tasks
Outside of the surgical suite, duties include managing paperwork, preparing consent forms, scheduling appointments, and documenting EMR notes. The assistant will also handle X-rays or scans, provide post-op instructions, and make follow-up calls to patients.
Daily Operations & Teamwork
Opening and closing the office, ensuring systems like suction and X-ray machines are functional, and maintaining OSHA compliance are part of the routine. The assistant should be comfortable stepping in to support team members as needed.

- Dental X-ray license (Pano, PA, CBCT)
- CPR/BLS certification
