Job Description


Our client is seeking an experienced Epicor Prophet 21 (P21) Finance Consultant to support a new Prophet 21 ERP implementation. This consultant will serve as a trusted advisor to finance, accounting, operations, and executive leadership teams throughout the implementation lifecycle, helping to ensure successful deployment, adoption, and optimization of the P21 platform.

The ideal candidate will possess deep functional expertise in Prophet 21 Financials, Inventory Management, Order Processing, CRM, Data Migration, Reporting, and Business Process Improvement. This individual will play a critical role in solution design, user training, system configuration, data conversion, testing, and post-go-live support.

This position is ideal for a seasoned consultant who combines strong accounting and finance expertise with extensive hands-on Prophet 21 implementation experience.
Key ResponsibilitiesProphet 21 Implementation Leadership
  • Serve as the lead functional consultant for the Prophet 21 implementation project.
  • Facilitate discovery sessions to understand current-state business processes and future-state requirements.
  • Provide best-practice recommendations for accounting, finance, distribution, inventory, and order management processes.
  • Support project planning, testing, user acceptance, training, and go-live activities.
Financial Systems & Accounting Expertise
  • Configure and optimize Prophet 21 financial modules including:
    • General Ledger
    • Accounts Payable
    • Accounts Receivable
    • Fixed Assets
    • Cash Management
    • Financial Reporting
  • Assist with month-end and year-end financial processes.
  • Advise leadership on financial controls, reporting structures, and process improvements.
Data Migration & System Integration
  • Lead data migration efforts utilizing Prophet 21 imports, exports, and data modification tools.
  • Assist with data validation, cleansing, reconciliation, and testing.
  • Support integrations with third-party applications including tax, reporting, CRM, and business intelligence solutions.
  • Provide expertise with Avalara sales tax integrations and configurations.
Reporting & Analytics
  • Develop and optimize reporting solutions utilizing:
    • Microsoft Excel
    • Power Query
    • MS Query
    • SQL Reporting
    • Prophet 21 Reporting Tools
  • Create financial, operational, inventory, and executive dashboards.
  • Assist users with ad hoc reporting and data analysis requirements.
User Training & Change Management
  • Deliver hands-on training to accounting, finance, customer service, purchasing, warehouse, and management teams.
  • Develop user guides, process documentation, and training materials.
  • Mentor key users and internal support teams to ensure long-term success.
  • Act as a trusted advisor during organizational change and ERP adoption initiatives.
Ongoing Support & Optimization
  • Troubleshoot functional and business process issues.
  • Identify opportunities for system optimization and automation.
  • Provide post-go-live support and continuous improvement recommendations.
  • Partner with executive leadership to maximize ERP investment and business value.
Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years of Epicor Prophet 21 consulting experience.
  • Multiple full-cycle Prophet 21 implementation and upgrade projects.
  • Strong accounting and finance background with experience supporting financial operations.
  • Deep understanding of:
    • Distribution Operations
    • Inventory Management
    • Order-to-Cash Processes
    • Procure-to-Pay Processes
    • CRM Functionality
    • Financial Reporting
  • Experience with Prophet 21 data migration, imports, exports, and system configuration.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel expertise including Power Query and advanced reporting capabilities.
  • Experience supporting Avalara sales tax integrations and compliance processes.
  • Ability to train users at all organizational levels.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and client-facing consulting skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience serving as a CFO, Controller, Accounting Manager, or senior finance leader.
  • Microsoft SQL scripting and database reporting experience.
  • Experience with Prophet 21 SaaS / Azure Cloud environments.
  • Knowledge of distribution, wholesale, manufacturing, or industrial supply industries.
  • Prior consulting experience supporting multiple clients and business units.
