Job Description
Summary:
The candidate will be involved in rail design, calculations, plan preparation, specifications, and quantity take-offs.
General Responsibilities:
- Design horizontal and vertical alignments for rail tracks
- Design drainage systems to support rail projects
- Develop plan sets suitable for construction
- Obtain project information from other team members as directed
- Use templates to prepare draft memos and reports for an experienced engineer’s review
- Perform a variety of routine tasks to become familiar with the company’s programs, staff, and operating procedures
- Receive regular training to learn the design of freight rail projects
- Potential for field construction management and inspection activities
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Education/Licenses:
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering required
- Eligible to take the PE Exam within the next 3 years
Required Experience:
- Minimum 1 year of experience
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to build strong relationships
- Rail experience a plus
- Experience with Microstation
