Core product lines include control and data handling (C&DH), power distribution systems, payload interface cards, mass memory, GPS receivers, motor and actuation controllers, and onboard computing platforms.
This role supports spaceflight programs delivering electronic solutions for crewed space capsules, lunar rover systems, satellite communications platforms, asteroid research missions, and complete satellite bus architectures. The Senior Electrical Engineer will lead high-speed digital design and space-grade electronics development across the full product lifecycle, from requirements definition through design verification and validation.
Key Responsibilities
- Design high-speed digital circuits for space-based electronics, including schematic capture and PCB layout specifications for multilayer boards
- Develop and integrate microprocessor-, DSP-, and FPGA-based systems for control systems, sensor interfaces, actuation systems, and onboard computing applications
- Collaborate with FPGA firmware engineers to support VHDL/Verilog-based designs and embedded digital architectures
- Conduct prototype bring-up, hardware integration, lab troubleshooting, and system-level validation
- Perform worst-case circuit analysis (WCCA), timing analysis, signal integrity analysis, and power dissipation studies to ensure reliability in space environments
- Develop and execute design verification and validation (V&V) plans, including test coverage analysis
- Create digital simulations and test benches using tools such as Questa or ModelSim
- Support hardware verification for memory interfaces, A/D and D/A converters, high-speed communication links, and mixed-signal subsystems
- Document electrical designs, analyses, simulations, and test results through formal technical reports and controlled engineering documentation
- Collaborate cross-functionally with systems engineering, firmware, mechanical, manufacturing, and quality teams to define requirements and deliver technical presentations
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical discipline
- 7+ years of experience in electronics design and digital hardware development
- 4+ years of experience working with modern microprocessors, DSPs, FPGA devices, memory architectures, A/D and D/A converters, and high-speed communication interfaces
- Proficiency with PCB design and layout tools, schematic capture systems, and digital simulation environments such as Questa or ModelSim
- Demonstrated expertise in worst-case analysis, timing analysis, signal integrity, and verification methodologies
- Hands-on experience with board bring-up, lab debugging, and hardware troubleshooting using standard electronic test equipment
- Strong technical communication skills with the ability to produce structured engineering documentation and design reports
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with VHDL or Verilog coding for FPGA development in aerospace or space applications
- Experience designing and qualifying space-grade electronics for radiation, thermal, and high-reliability environments
- Familiarity with satellite avionics, control and data handling systems, power distribution electronics, or onboard processing architectures
