Our client is looking for a Senior Commercial Concrete Estimator for an in office role. Will manage five jr level estimators. Average job size is $2.5 million. Customers range from churches, schools, retails shops to mid rise structures.
Job Description:
Prepares cost estimates by analyzing proposals, project drawings, project specifications and other related documents along with all other owner or customer’s requirements.
Work is generally performed in an office setting. Though visits to construction job sites may be required to fully ascertain the nature of the project requirements. The employee must provide his/her own transportation, hand tools, as required by the trade, and be willing to travel within a 70-mile radius of the Houston metropolitan area.

Identifies labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
Computes costs by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements.
Resolves discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
Presents prepared estimate by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information.
Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
Maintains cost database by entering and backing up data.
Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops;reviewing technical publications.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Follow all safety rules to ensure his/her own safety and that of others on the jobsite.
Wear the required protective equipment required by the task.
Qualifications:

Analyzing information, estimating, planning, reporting research results, data center experience, strategic planning, attention to detail, informing others, requirements analysis
Able to complete assigned work on time, as instructed, and with minimal supervision.
Able to successfully pass a drug screen and background screening.
Excellent verbal communication skills
Able to resolve conflicts or revisions to the plans;and communicate with the project team (i.E. Client, general contractor, project manager, other superiors, architect, engineer, consultant, owner) for mutual resolution, prior to finalizing estimates.
Education & Experience:
10 years commercial construction experience
5 years of commercial concrete estimation exerience.
Must have experience supervising people.
Must be computer literate, including knowledge of Microsoft office (Excel, word, project & Outlook), one or more estimating software, and PlanGrid is preferred.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as project specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals;Ability to write routine reports and correspondence;Ability to speak effectively to individuals, at all levels, and to groups of customers, suppliers, vendors and/or employees.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Blueprint reading. Endurance and ability to visit entire worksite, including stairs, ladders or other elevated structures. Monitoring jobsite general health and safety.

The employee may be occasionally required to ascend or descend to/from excavations and ditches traversing on ladders, ramps, or dirt steps;transition from one surface level to another;walk on uneven surfaces;hear different levels of sound, such as: normal verbal communication, sounds from the activity of other workers on the work area, vehicular traffic (on public roads or within the jobsite), equipment or machinery operating near-by (motors running, horns and back-up alarms), and other general construction work-related sounds and noises;work in high or precarious places (structural work);wear steel-toe work boots;and occasionally wear personal fall arrest systems such as a harness, standard lanyard, self-retracting lanyard, and similar equipment (structural work).
This position requires the individual to work independently and within a team-environment.
