A Senior Controls Technician will be responsible for the design, configuration, and operation of complete building control systems to meet the intent of project documents or owner requirements. This role requires the development of complex systems programs, commissioning tests, and troubleshooting to ensure proper operations of the building control system. The technician must be able to provide detailed reports and submittals to communicate design and operation to customers, consultants, engineers, and other technicians.
Job Duties:
Design and configure technically complex building control systems as defined by the contract documents, including creating flow diagrams, sequences of operations, bills of material, network layouts, and control schematics as required.
Create and test software programs necessary to operate the system per the intent of the project requirements.
Coordinate the creation of necessary drawings and equipment schedules for submittals and installation.
Assist in the loading and commissioning of all system and network-level controllers as required.
Validate complete system functionality and troubleshoot problems with subcontractors and other trades to ensure proper operation.
Provide field change information to the project team for the creation of as-built drawings, software, and change orders.
Keep the Project Manager and contractors or customers informed of job progress and issues during the commissioning of the systems.
Perform project training for owners and operators on the building control system.
Continue training to maintain a high level of knowledge in Tridium, Siemens, and Distech control systems.
Job Requirements:
Extensive experience in the design, configuration, and operation of building control systems.
Proficiency in creating flow diagrams, sequences of operations, bills of material, network layouts, and control schematics.
Strong skills in software programming, system commissioning, and troubleshooting.
Ability to communicate design and operation details clearly in reports and submittals.
Strong coordination skills for creating drawings and equipment schedules.
Ability to perform system validation and troubleshoot complex issues with various trades.
Proficiency in providing training and support to system owners and operators.
Commitment to continuous learning and maintaining knowledge in Tridium, Siemens, and Distech control systems.
Education:
High School Diploma and/or Trade School.
Desired Experience:
Proven experience with Tridium Niagara, Siemens, Distech Controls, or other similar building automation systems.
