Overview
We are seeking a Database Programmer Analyst Senior with advanced expertise in Microsoft SQL Server database development, ETL architecture, and enterprise data integration. This role focuses on designing, developing, optimizing, and supporting both new and existing database systems while serving as a technical lead within the applications development lifecycle.

The ideal candidate brings strong experience in database design, performance tuning, SSIS package development, replication, high availability environments, and reporting solutions, along with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and mentor junior team members.
Key ResponsibilitiesDatabase Design & Development

  • Design, develop, and maintain MS SQL Server databases, ensuring scalability, data integrity, and performance optimization.

  • Create and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and triggers to support enterprise applications.

  • Implement database enhancements, troubleshoot programming issues, and resolve production incidents through root cause analysis.

  • Support both COTS application databases and in-house developed database systems and integrations.
ETL & Data Integration

  • Architect and develop advanced ETL solutions using SSIS, including complex package design and workflow automation.

  • Implement heterogeneous data integration across multiple systems and platforms.

  • Support SQL Server replication, Always On availability groups, and high-availability configurations.

  • Manage data conversion, migration deployments, and system upgrades, including testing and validation processes.
Reporting & Business Intelligence

  • Develop reports and dashboards using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).

  • Support data extraction and transformation processes that feed enterprise reporting and analytics environments.

  • Evaluate departmental reporting needs and implement data-driven solutions to improve workflow efficiency.
Application Development & Systems Integration

  • Collaborate with IT Security, Project Management, Business Integration, and other cross-functional teams throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC).

  • Ensure seamless integration of database components within application systems.

  • Review user requests for enhancements, bug fixes, and new program development, translating business requirements into technical solutions.
Technical Leadership & Documentation

  • Serve as a technical lead, assigning and reviewing work performed by programming staff and mentoring lower-level analysts.

  • Write and maintain technical documentation, including operating procedures, disaster recovery plans, training materials, and system documentation.

  • Evaluate and recommend automated systems and process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.

  • Provide backup support for other Database Analyst functions as needed.
Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical field.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in database design and development using Microsoft SQL Server.

  • At least 3 years of advanced experience in ETL development and SSIS package design.

  • Strong expertise in SQL performance tuning, query optimization, stored procedures, and database troubleshooting.

  • Experience supporting enterprise application databases in complex environments.
Preferred Experience

  • Advanced experience with SSIS package architecture and workflow orchestration.

  • Hands-on experience with SQL Server replication, Always On availability groups, and high-availability solutions.

  • Experience integrating data across heterogeneous systems and environments.

  • Background supporting both COTS platforms and custom-built applications.
