Senior Power BI DeveloperPosition Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Power BI Developer to join our Data Insights & Analytics team. This role is pivotal in transforming complex insurance data into actionable intelligence through interactive dashboards, powerful reports, and efficient data models.
You will collaborate closely with engineering, product, and business stakeholders to design, develop, and maintain reporting solutions that support strategic decision-making and operational transparency. Our stack includes Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Azure SQL.
In addition to your technical responsibilities, your daily routine will include participating in standup meetings, managing work items based on your capacity, collaborating with the team’s growing technology team to define new projects or initiatives, and engage in development activities. In addition to traditional data engineering tasks, you will directly interact with the teams developing the tools we utilize, enabling you to provide direct product feedback and witness your input driving changes in the products over time. Key Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain advanced Power BI dashboards, reports, and visualizations
Develop and optimize data models and transformations using DAX, Power Query (M), and SQL
Integrate Power BI solutions with Azure data services, including Data Factory, Synapse, and Azure SQL
Collaborate with business stakeholders to define KPIs, requirements, and reporting objectives
Translate complex data sets into clear insights through interactive and scalable BI solutions
Ensure consistency, performance, and reliability of reports through best practices in BI development
Participate in code reviews, solution design, and mentoring junior team members
Stay up-to-date with Power BI and Microsoft Fabric enhancements, recommending relevant improvements
Support live dashboards and address performance issues or data inconsistencies as needed
Key Skills & Expertise
Power BI: Expert-level experience in building and deploying dashboards and paginated reports
Data Modeling: Proficient in DAX, Power Query (M), and dimensional modeling techniques
SQL & Data Integration: Strong T-SQL skills and experience integrating with Azure SQL and Synapse
Microsoft Fabric / Azure: Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric notebooks and Azure-based data architecture
Performance Optimization: Skilled at identifying bottlenecks and tuning reports for performance and usability
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, or related field (or equivalent experience)
5+ years of experience with Power BI, DAX, and Power Query in enterprise environments
3+ years of experience working with Azure services such as Data Factory, Synapse, and Azure SQL
Proven ability to gather requirements, work with stakeholders, and deliver business-ready solutions
Experience with Microsoft Fabric or similar analytics environments is a strong plus
Experience working with Lloyd’s of London bordereaux data is a strong plus, particularly in contexts involving ingestion, validation, and transformation of complex insurance data sets.
