Job Description
Senior Principal Software Architect –Enterprise Platforms
We are conducting a confidential search for a Senior Principal Architect to lead the design and delivery of a new enterprise platform supporting high-volume customer and transaction operations.
You will own the architecture from initial design through production launch. The environment requires real-time processing, strong security, complex integrations, dependable performance, and the ability to operate at significant scale. This is an architecture leadership position with direct influence over technology selection, engineering standards, and delivery rather than an advisory-only role.
This is a very hands-on role, including working with the code.
What You’ll Own
- Establish the architectural direction for a new enterprise transaction platform.
- Translate business and operational requirements into scalable system designs, technical roadmaps, and implementation standards.
- Guide the platform through design, development, testing, deployment, and production launch.
- Design distributed applications using microservices, event-driven architecture, cloud-native services, and appropriate serverless patterns.
- Architect for high transaction volumes, real-time data processing, resilience, security, and operational continuity.
- Lead integrations with payment services, customer-management systems, external platforms, and enterprise APIs.
- Evaluate technologies, frameworks, databases, and development tools based on performance, reliability, security, and maintainability.
- Identify architectural bottlenecks and guide performance optimization across applications, integrations, and data services.
- Establish engineering standards, conduct architecture and code reviews, and ensure development teams follow the agreed design.
- Work closely with engineering, enterprise architecture, DevOps, security, product, UX, and business operations.
- Mentor senior engineers and communicate technical decisions clearly to executives, business leaders, and technical teams.
Required Experience
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, including substantial responsibility for enterprise application architecture and technical leadership.
- Direct experience designing or modernizing large-scale, high-availability transaction or customer operations platforms.
- Demonstrated ownership of a major software platform from inception through production launch.
- Deep knowledge of distributed application patterns, including microservices, event-driven systems, high-availability architecture, and cloud-native design.
- Strong development background using one or more of the following: Java, C#, Python, or JavaScript.
- Experience with frameworks such as Spring, .NET, or Node.Js.
- Advanced knowledge of relational and NoSQL database architecture, transactional data, performance tuning, and data consistency.
- Experience deploying applications on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Background integrating complex third-party systems, payment platforms, and APIs.
- Working knowledge of application security, payment-card data protection, privacy engineering, and secure software design.
- Strong understanding of Agile delivery, automated testing, CI/CD, DevOps, and production support.
- Ability to lead technical teams and explain complex architectural decisions to technical and nontechnical audiences.
Education and Eligibility
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
- An advanced degree or architecture-related certification is beneficial.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
