JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Systems Engineer to join the dynamic team as a Project and Service Engineer. As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing complex IT infrastructures for our diverse client base. Your expertise will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and continuous improvement of our clients' systems, while delivering exceptional customer service and technical support. This role will primarily support our project department and as such, only candidates with proven experience in designing and deploying systems will be considered. As a senior member of the engineering group, the individual in this role will be expected to pivot easily between project implementations and service escalations
Responsibilities:
Discovery and Design of IT Solutions: Collaborate with our sales and consulting teams to design tailored IT solutions for our clients, encompassing server infrastructure, networking, virtualization, and cloud technologies.
System Architecture and Deployment: Design and implement various IT environments, including servers, storage systems, virtualization platforms, mail, and cloud services, to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and security.
Security and Compliance: Implement security best practices and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations. Conduct regular security assessments and audits to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities.
Backup and Disaster Recovery: Design and deploy robust backup and disaster recovery solutions for our clients' critical data and systems to ensure business continuity.
Documentation and Reporting: Create comprehensive technical documentation, including system configurations, standard operating procedures, and incident reports. Generate periodic reports to update clients on system health and performance.
Incident Resolution and Troubleshooting: Provide expert-level technical support to resolve complex issues, incidents, and problems related to systems, networks, and applications, adhering to predefined SLAs.
Team Collaboration and Mentorship: Work closely with other team members, including network engineers, support staff, and project managers, to ensure seamless delivery of services and projects.
Technology Research and Evaluation: Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends. Conduct research and evaluation of new tools and solutions that can enhance our services and client experience.
Client Engagement: Foster strong relationships with our clients, offering technical guidance, participating in meetings, and acting as a trusted advisor for their IT needs.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
5+ years proven experience as a Systems Engineer or related role, preferably within an MSP environment.
Proven experience leading multiple deployments from inception to completion.
Expertise in designing, implementing, and managing Windows and Linux-based server environments.
Proficiency in virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, etc.), cloud platforms (AWS, Azure AD, Intune, etc.), and network protocols.
Experience leading on premise to cloud migration projects. Including Active Directory, mail and compute workloads.
Strong knowledge of cybersecurity best practices, including firewall configurations, antivirus/EDR, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
Experience in deploying and managing storage solutions (SAN, NAS) and backup/recovery strategies.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues efficiently.
Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Certifications such as Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), or equivalent, are a plus
