Software Development Manager

Position Overview: 

The Software Developer is responsible for full lifecycle application development, including requirements analysis, software design, coding, unit testing, system testing, deployment, maintenance, and performance optimization.

This role partners with Systems Analysts, Database Administrators, Network Administrators, and cross-functional stakeholders to develop and enhance web applications, database-driven systems, and enterprise software solutions that support behavioral health operations.

The ideal candidate brings strong expertise in ASP.NET development, SQL Server database design, web technologies, IIS administration, and legacy system support, along with experience in documentation, troubleshooting, and process improvement.

 

Key Responsibilities

Software Development & Engineering

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain ASP.NET web applications and enterprise software solutions

  • Write clean, scalable, and maintainable code using C#, Visual Basic, JavaScript, AJAX, HTML, CSS, XML

  • Perform unit testing, integration testing, debugging, and performance tuning

  • Analyze test results and implement corrective actions

  • Maintain and enhance legacy software systems

  • Install and configure software products for end users

 

Database Design & Data Management

  • Design and implement relational database architecture using Microsoft SQL Server

  • Develop stored procedures, views, functions, SSIS packages, and SQL maintenance jobs

  • Optimize SQL queries for performance and reporting

  • Support database imports, data migration, and data integrity validation

  • Collaborate on reporting solutions using Crystal Reports, Excel, and Access

 

Web & Systems Administration

  • Manage and deploy applications within Microsoft IIS environments

  • Develop and maintain website functionality, site maps, and process flow documentation

  • Support third-party web designers and marketing teams with website updates

  • Evaluate and enhance existing code for performance improvements

 

Requirements & Documentation

  • Gather and document business and technical requirements

  • Create system specifications, flow charts, and technical documentation

  • Provide status reports and communicate development progress to stakeholders

  • Develop and maintain user documentation and training materials

 

Collaboration & Support

  • Partner with Systems Analysts, Programmer Analysts, Network Administrators, and Help Desk teams to resolve software issues

  • Recommend and implement system improvements and upgrades

  • Respond to end-user feedback and recommend programming enhancements

  • Provide mentorship and supervision to junior software developers

  • Assist with training initiatives and knowledge transfer

Compliance & Security

  • Ensure adherence to data security, privacy, and confidentiality standards

  • Support secure application access, user account setup, and role-based permissions

  • Exercise sound judgment in handling sensitive consumer data

 

Required Education & Experience

Associate’s degree in Computer Science or related field with 5+ years of software development experience
OR

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field with 3+ years of relevant experience

 

Technical Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Visual Studio (2005, 2010, 2017 or newer)

  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server (2012 or newer)

  • Expertise in:

    • ASP.NET development

    • C#, Visual Basic

    • JavaScript, AJAX

    • HTML, DHTML, XHTML, CSS

    • XML

    • IIS Administration

  • Experience with SSIS, relational database modeling, table design (keys, constraints), stored procedures

  • Familiarity with SharePoint, Crystal Reports, Microsoft Office Suite

  • Knowledge of software lifecycle management and version control practices

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and debugging skills

  • Experience supporting legacy applications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise professional judgment

  • Strong organizational skills, self-motivation, and time management

 

Working Conditions

  • Prolonged sitting and computer use

  • Occasional bending, lifting (up to 25 lbs.), and travel between sites

  • Use of standard office equipment
