System Test Engineer

Job Description:
Our client is seeking a System Test Engineer in Ashburn, VA. that will report to the Senior Project Manager and contribute to multiple aspects of the QA team. The System Test Engineer will apply technical skills to support the testing located in Ashburn along with customer site(s) in the Mid-Atlantic Region, with a focus on system deployment testing.
Daily Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct operational testing and collect data on the test system(s) at the Ashburn office in support customer projects.
Support system updates, build testing, and unit testing.
Contribute to project test plan development and revision, conduct dry runs, and troubleshoot system issues identified during testing to facilitate escalation to the appropriate team for resolution.
Contribute to project QA deliverables such as reports on build or unit testing results.
Support QA of software and hardware installation, configuration, or update for upcoming systems testing and customer project facilities.
Learn more about the current and upcoming systems deployment, testing, and maintenance.
Attend project meetings to understand client expectations and goals for project testing.
Travel to and perform work at customer facilities as needed based on project delivery schedule.
Contribute to the overall QA knowledge base and project support team.
Communicate via email, teleconferencing, and in person with people across the company and across the country.
Assist with training materials.
Required Skills and Experience:
Coursework, training, or work experience as a software tester in Windows or Linux OS
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Outstanding attention to detail
Willingness and ability to continually gain knowledge regarding the integrated toll system.
Ability to work independently on requested tasks, and to effectively hand off tasks to other team members, when necessary, based on shifting priorities.
Ability to effectively respond to changing priorities based on guidance from management.
Ability to develop and improve process documentation.
Ability to provide outstanding support to internal and external customers and stakeholders.

General Test and Evaluation skills
Previous experience with JIRA or similar RAIL tools
Previous experience using Microsoft SharePoint, wiki, or other information and documentation management tools.
Previous experience identifying shortfalls in processes, improving them, and supporting team outreach and training.

Education:
High School diploma required, post High Schedule education in a technical or analytical field preferred, such as an Associates’ or Bachelors' degree.
