Job Description


Our client is seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of infrastructure, cloud, and technology initiatives for a diverse portfolio of clients. This role is ideal for a project management professional with a strong technical foundation who excels at coordinating cross-functional teams, managing client relationships, and delivering complex IT projects on time and within budget.

This is not a hands-on engineering position. The Technical Project Manager is responsible for driving project execution, coordinating technical resources, managing risks, ensuring compliance requirements are met, and serving as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle.

This is a 100% remote, direct hire opportunity with approximately 25% travel for project kickoffs, major implementation milestones, cutover activities, and client meetings.

Position Summary
The Technical Project Manager is responsible for leading multiple infrastructure and cloud technology projects from initial intake through final delivery. The ideal candidate combines exceptional project management skills with a solid understanding of enterprise infrastructure, Microsoft technologies, cybersecurity, and compliance-driven environments.

This individual will manage cross-functional technical teams in a matrix organization while partnering closely with engineering leadership to ensure projects are delivered according to approved technical designs, project schedules, budgets, and client expectations.

Key ResponsibilitiesProject Management
  • Lead full project lifecycle management from initiation through project closeout.
  • Develop project scopes, work breakdown structures (WBS), schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
  • Manage multiple concurrent infrastructure and technology projects.
  • Monitor project timelines, budgets, risks, and deliverables.
  • Facilitate project kickoff meetings, status meetings, and executive updates.
  • Manage project documentation throughout the implementation lifecycle.
  • Coordinate project closeout activities, lessons learned, and client acceptance.

Infrastructure & Cloud Projects
Manage technical projects involving:
  • Microsoft 365 migrations
  • Microsoft Azure implementations
  • Windows Server deployments and migrations
  • Virtualization platforms
  • Network infrastructure upgrades
  • Network segmentation
  • Cloud migrations
  • Storage solutions
  • Backup and disaster recovery
  • Identity and Access Management
  • Cybersecurity initiatives
  • Infrastructure modernization

Resource & Team Coordination
Coordinate technical delivery teams including:
  • Systems Administrators
  • Infrastructure Engineers
  • Cloud Engineers
  • Network Engineers
  • Field Service Technicians
  • Security Engineers
  • Senior Engineering Resources

Responsibilities include:
  • Project scheduling
  • Resource allocation
  • Task prioritization
  • Cross-functional coordination
  • Escalation management
  • Removing project roadblocks
  • Monitoring deliverables
  • Supporting delivery excellence

Operate successfully within a matrix management environment while partnering closely with engineering leadership.

Client Relationship Management
Serve as the primary project contact for clients by:
  • Leading project kickoff meetings
  • Conducting regular status reviews
  • Managing stakeholder expectations
  • Communicating project risks and issues
  • Coordinating implementation windows
  • Managing project changes
  • Delivering executive-level reporting
  • Ensuring successful client outcomes

Compliance & Governance
Support projects involving regulated environments and compliance frameworks including:
  • NIST 800-171
  • CMMC
  • SOC 2

Responsibilities include:
  • Change management
  • Documentation control
  • Audit evidence collection
  • Risk management
  • Project governance
  • Security documentation
  • Compliance tracking
  • Project closeout documentation

Vendor Management
Coordinate third-party vendors throughout project execution, including:
  • Hardware procurement
  • Software vendors
  • Internet service providers
  • Telecommunications providers
  • Cloud service providers
  • Implementation partners

Project Reporting
Utilize project management and PSA tools to:
  • Track schedules
  • Monitor project budgets
  • Maintain project dashboards
  • Update risk registers
  • Produce executive reporting
  • Forecast resource utilization
  • Measure project performance
  • Report project health metrics

Experience with tools such as:
  • HaloPSA
  • Microsoft Project
  • Smartsheet
  • Microsoft Planner
  • Microsoft Project Online
  • Azure DevOps (preferred)

Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years of Technical Project Management experience leading enterprise IT infrastructure projects.
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent technology projects.
  • Strong understanding of IT infrastructure and cloud technologies.
  • Experience leading cross-functional technical teams within a matrix organization.
  • Demonstrated success delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Experience managing project scope, risks, schedules, budgets, and resource planning.
  • Strong client-facing consulting and communication skills.
  • Experience working with executive leadership and technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to interpret technical designs and coordinate implementation activities.
  • Experience using project management methodologies including Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery models.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% throughout the United States.
