Position Summary:
As a VDC Engineer, you will address virtual construction needs within Preconstruction, Construction Operations, and Consulting/Litigation Support Services. A proficient user of VDC software, you will be a self-driven, open-minded, and dedicated professional ready to tackle new challenges. This role is based in Woodland Hills, CA, but requires travel to job sites and partner offices as needed, with potential work from job sites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and coordinate 3D object-oriented models.
- Create 5D visual simulations integrating BIM+TIME+COST using Navisworks or Synchro.
- Conduct clash detections.
- Perform 3D scanning with Trimble 3D scanner and lay out work using Trimble Robotic Total Station.
- Integrate actual job costs, model-based quantity reports, take-offs, and scheduling data into the model for as-built project control, risk analysis, and historical reference.
- Generate formwork and concrete lift and placement drawings for horizontal and vertical control, as well as general assembly drawings.
- Support Preconstruction and Business Development by creating photorealistic imagery using Artlantis and other rendering engines.
- Manage project documents including RFIs, submittals, PCOs, and NOC.
- Process raw 3D point cloud scan files in software such as Trimble REALWORKS, Scene, Rythm, or similar, and produce registered files.
- Create as-built models based on scan files using Trimble REALWORKS or similar software and/or TEKLA Structures.
- Convert and correct building model files or 3D scanned point clouds for rapid prototype 3D printing using Materialise Magics and SpaceClaim.
- Conduct completeness and constructibility reviews under supervision, issuing and managing RFIs as needed.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Preferably 2+ years of experience in the building or design industry.
- Understanding of VDC and BIM concepts.
- Preliminary experience with BIM systems such as Autodesk Revit, Bentley, Vico Constructor, TEKLA, Synchro, Navisworks, SketchUp, or similar software suites.
- High proficiency in computer skills, particularly MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, and BlueBeam.
